Anniston police are searching for a man they suspect beat another man with a wooden stick, sending him to Regional Medical Center Thursday afternoon with multiple lacerations on his face.

Lt. Rocky Stemen said the fight occurred at the intersection of West 15th Street and Cobb Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The 28-year-old victim told police he had gotten into an argument with an acquaintance of his, a 46-year-old man from Anniston.

The fight escalated when the suspect picked up a stick off the ground and began to beat the victim across the head and face with it, Stemen said.

When the fight was over, someone called an ambulance, which transported the victim to the hospital. Stemen said police have a suspect but do not want to release his name because the investigation is ongoing.
