I have this deep feeling in my gut that the problems we have now will lead to political, religious, economic and social climates yet unknown in our society. We will experience such things that happen only in third-world countries and dictatorships.
I hope this gut feeling is only a mild case of political flu, and that it will pass with time.
I have been on a reading program, starting in the 1970s up to the present day in the history of the United States. It's political, economic, social and labor history. It's also foreign policy. I think this is where my gut feeling is coming from. Surely this doesn't come from thin air.
I'm also thinking that soon we will elect leaders who will pave the way to make this country just like any other third-world country. This will be where the rich will rule with a bold and brazen hand, maybe even painful at times for certain people — such as the poor. It will be a place of castles with walls and shantytowns. Even religion will be a major part of government with religious laws. It will be third world in all ways and means.
