Several investigators and a pair of ABC agents arrived at the store – located next to the Winn Dixie on Highway 431 – around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses told police that a man walked into the store with a handgun and demanded cash, Lt. Rocky Stemen said. The man fled with an undetermined amount of cash. In the process, he fired a shot in the direction of the Exxon-Mobil gas station across the street from the ABC store. Two people were standing nearby when the bullet pierced the side of the gas station, Stemen said.
Then, according to Stemen, the man began to run the direction of Wildoak Drive, where he fired another shot at person in a car, striking the side of the vehicle.
Police say they found the man hiding in the Woodchase neighborhood. White Trenton, 18, of Gadsden was charged Wednesday evening with attempted murder, firing a weapon into an occupied building, firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle, and armed robbery.
Now, officers are searching for the person they suspect was waiting in a getaway car outside the ABC store, Stemen said.
There were two employees and two customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
