Credit Jacksonville State University's Board of Trustees for coming to its senses. Bill Burgess' name should be affixed to the school's football stadium.

And credit the "Burgess Boys," the coalition of former players who have long lobbied for the addition. Their spokesman, Banyon Allison, said all the right things this week when trustees finally saw the light.

Today, all's right in this little corner of JSU's world. An unsightly family squabble over the name — and the cost — of a football stadium is over. You can't overprice appropriateness.

Yet, we wonder: Would the school have ever put the former coach's name in its rightful place had it not been for the Burgess Boys' dogged persistence? From JSU's standpoint, perhaps that's a question best left unanswered.
