Robert Junior Adams, a 62-year-old man from Phil Campbell, died in a two-vehicle accident on Alabama 9, 5 miles south of Piedmont at 7:30 this morning.

Adams was traveling southbound in a work van when he ran into the back of a dump truck pulling heavy equipment, said Shane Adrian, the Calhoun County deputy coroner. He said that Adams was pronounced dead of head injuries at the scene.

Alabama State Troopers reportedly closed both lanes of Alabama 9 and redirected traffic for two hours following the crash.
