Here's a story he told my son and heir.
"When we won our last national championship in 1992, I started putting a little money in an envelope under my pillow so I'd be able to attend our next national championship.
"I'll guarantee you there's not a single Auburn fan anywhere that has any money in an envelope under their pillow."
(I may have paraphrased that just a bit, but it's close.)
One other thing.
He is married to a lovely lady who's about as "bad" Auburn as her husband is Alabama. And he did make it to Pasadena, but when he called home ...
"She won't answer the phone," he said.
Oh, other than that, the two are very happily married.
If you're in Logan's Roadhouse in Oxford, hope you get Audrey Clark or Alisha Livingston at your table.Great service, but good people, too. I say that after leaving a credit card on the table when I paid the bill this past week. It took a couple of days to discover the loss.
Thanks to Audrey and Alisha, the card was waiting for me to come get it.
There's more ...
In handling a family matter over the past few months, I've had dealings with the Fort McClellan Credit Union and Cheaha Bank in Alexandria.
Lisa Evans, Tiffany Crews, and Jennifer Walker at McClellan have been wonderful. So has Felicia Burns, assistant manager at the Alexandria Cheaha.
Fact is, Felicia and I have been "together" for two years or more and she has guided me over the hurdles with ease.
Finally, but far from last, is Reba Grissom at Regions in Jacksonville.
Reba has helped me through not one, but two of these deals, the first one some 10 years back. There were times I'm not sure I'd have made it without Reba Grissom in my life.
I know this is what they are paid to do, but these always went past "just doing my job." Too often, we don't appreciate all those people out there who make our lives just a bit easier.
Truth is, you run into such people most ever day do, so ... take a moment to say "thank you."
My apologies and I hope the birthday was a great one.
