The quarterfinal round of the 59th annual Calhoun County basketball tournament begins tonight at Jacksonville State's Pete Mathews Coliseum. The No. 1 seeds, the Anniston girls and the Anniston boys, make their first appearances after receiving byes in the first round. In the boys bracket, the only first round upset was No. 10 Faith Christian's win over No. 7 Weaver. The girls also had only one upset in the first seven games as No. 12 White Plains defeated No. 5 Jacksonville. This afternoon's four o'clock game is Anniston versus No. 8 Alexandria.
