As quirky as it sounds, Talladega Superspeedway used a Creek Indian medicine man last week to remove a figurative curse at the racetrack. Perhaps that's the ticket for ending the myriad lawsuits muddying up McClellan development.

Anniston Mayor Gene Robinson shouldn't shy away from stealing this idea. He should hire a Native American medicine man and explain the layers of lawsuit-induced evil spirits that must be hanging over the city's former Army post. A post, mind you, that has its own Native American past.

Using the medicine man's spiritual gifts, McClellan might finally shed its legal entanglements and move forward, full-steam ahead, with developing property and recruiting the type industries needed for Calhoun County's future.

Everything else has been tried. McClellan's too important to waste a good idea.
