LINCOLN — Mike Turner's mind filled with memories as he spoke at Thursday's dedication of Keith Howard Memorial Stadium, so his eyes filled with tears. The Talladega County School Board member said he thought about Howard drawing up Lincoln High's plush football home on a napkin at a Waffle House four years ago. Then Turner felt Howard's absence. That wasn't part of the plan. "My big emotional thing was him not being here," Turner said.
