MONTGOMERY — Not only are Alabama High School Athletic Association's football state titles games going to be in a new place, but they're going to be done a new way, too.

In the AHSAA's Central Board of Control meeting on Wednesday in Montgomery, the group made a unanimous decision to scrap the three-day format and go with two days of action playing the odd numbered classifications on Thursday, Dec. 3 and the evens the following day.

Earlier this year, the AHSAA had decided to pull the football championships, also known as the Super 6, out of Birmingham and move it to a rotate between the campuses of the University of Alabama and Auburn University.

The six 2009 state championship games, which will be played at Bryant-Denny Stadium, kick off on Dec. 3 with Class 3A at 11 a.m., 1A at 3 p.m. and 5A at 7 p.m. On Dec. 4, Class 4A is set for 11 a.m., with 2A and 6A at 3 and 7 p.m., respectively.

Since Super 6's inception in 1996 it had operated under a three-day format.
