My congratulations to the good people at Walter Wellborn High School. In hiring our former football coach, Jeff Smith from Hueytown High School, you have selected not only a top-flight coach but an outstanding person as well.
You cannot imagine the sadness that our community and team felt when the news broke. Jeff turned a perennial loser into an annual contender in Jefferson County. So Jeff is "coming home" and Walter Wellborn is about to start enjoying high school football again.
