Investigators said the 28-year-old told her daughter to lock the back door. The daughter said she locked it, police said.
The next day, the woman found her purse was stolen, police said. Someone dumped the purse on the back step between 11 p.m. and midnight and stole the cash and cell phone from it, police said.
