HUNTSVILLE -- The Jacksonville State softball team swept a doubleheader from Alabama A&M on Tuesday, 10-0 and 4-1.

The Gamecocks (9-3) had 14 hits in the first game, and Amanda Maldonado slammed a two-run homer in the seventh inning of the nightcap.

Maldonado went 4-for-5 in the twinbill. Jamie McGuire hit a two-run homer in the first game.

Casey Akenberger and Savanna Hennings combined for the first-game shutout. Brooke Carvey got the win in the second game.

The second game had the most drama. A&M's Anisa Britt retired the first JSU batters she faced in the nightcap before the Gamecocks reached her in the sixth, tying the game on an error.

In the seventh, Sara Borders doubled and scored the go-ahead run on Cadi Oliver's single. Maldonado followed with her homer.
