Re “Rep. Rogers’ choice of words” (Editorial, Feb. 3):

Freedom means every individual has the right to like or dislike anything they want to. This applies to Congressman Mike Rogers, as well. Had Rogers been making jokes about Christian, Southern, white males or bashing them, as liberal Democrats so often do, not a word would be said about it in newspapers or anyplace else.

While Rogers has to represent everyone in his district with action and deeds as a congressman, he is not obliged to agree with them on their particular lifestyle or agenda and tell them they are right.

The whole argument coming from the gay community is that everyone should forsake their religious beliefs and tell them their lifestyle is right. Comparing the gay rights agenda to the civil rights movement is not comparable. No one chooses their skin color but everyone chooses their lifestyle. If they choose wrongly, everyone else should not be expected to conform or pay for gays’ personal choices.

Rogers won’t lose a single vote over this liberal, media field day over his gay jokes, so let them scream. It’s only another of the media’s many attempts to push the gay agenda and convince 99 percent of us that it’s the right course to support.

Disliking this lifestyle does not mean we are racist; race has nothing to do with it. As Christians, we don’t like the things the Bible explicitly says is wrong. So stop feel special like you are the only group society has told it is wrong.
