UPDATED NE Regional: Shades Valley girls eliminate Gadsden City

Shades Valley 55, Gadsden City 35: Morgan William scored a game-high 14 points, and Katelyn Thomas added 11 as Shades Valley rolled in Tuesday's first girls Class 6A semifinal.

The Mounties (28-4) will play Huntsville in the 6A girls final Friday at 9 a.m. Huntsville beat Mountain Brook 69-64 in overtime in Tuesday's second girls semifinal.

The Mounties took control quickly against Gadsden City, starting the game with a 12-2 run and leading 16-4 after the first quarter. They took their biggest lead at 53-32 on two Kaihla Carter free throws with 2:17 to play.

Shades Valley held Gadsden City to 28.3 percent shooting and forced 15 turnovers, 11 in the first half. The Mounties also held a 40-30 rebounding edge, led by Thomas and Alyese Givens with eight apiece.

Dajia Williams was Gadsden City's lone double-figure scorer with 10 points. The Titans finished the season at 20-5.
