My dad taught in various high school capacities and locations and wanted to implement pre-school programs in Fayette County in the late 1950’s. I was in an experimental first-grade class that started school at age 5 (1948) with a birthday of Oct. 1, and I have been grateful ever since.
Every child should attend some type of pre-schooling before they start the first grade so they are exposed to a scholastic environment run by quality people, day-to-day rules with guidelines and boundaries for discipline before bad influences and stereotypes from an individual household are imprinted. The younger the better.
