John Grass moved another step closer to completing his Jacksonville State football staff Tuesday by confirming the hiring of Auburn defensive analyst Brandon Hall as co-defensive coordinator.

Hall will join recently hired David Blackwell in the co-coordinator spot. It wasn’t immediately certain if he willcoach safeties or linebackers.

Hall couldn’t be reached immediately for comment. Grass was in a staff meeting and not available immediately.

Hall was linebackers coach at Arkansas State before joining Auburn’s staff this past season. He also was a linebackers coach at Northern Iowa and twice was a defensive quality control specialist at Oklahoma.

Grass has one more slot to fill before completing his staff -- cornerbacks and special teams coach.

Al Muskewitz covers Jacksonville State sports for The Star. He can be reached at 256-235-3577.
