Anniston police Capt. Allen George said state troopers recovered the vehicle later that day in Talladega County.
According to a police report, the suspect stole the victim’s 2006 Toyota Corolla and prescription medications, including painkillers, that were in the glove compartment.
George said the robbery occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. in the parking lot of a gas station on the 800 block of West 15th Street.
The victim, 41, told investigators that she and her 15-year-old son were waiting for one of her son’s friends when a man walked up to the car brandishing a handgun, the captain said.
The victim told police the man pointed the gun at her and told her and her son to get out of the car. The two then walked to their home on Oak Lane before filing a police report, George said.
According to the captain, troopers found the car damaged beyond repair. The vehicle was valued at $4,000, according to a police report.
There were no suspects as of Wednesday, George said.
Any suspect could face felony charges of first-degree robbery, according to a police report.
