No one was injured in the blaze, but the fire caused $20,000 worth of damage to the home, at 2218 Moore Ave. The fire occurred between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.
Anniston assistant fire Chief David Randle said the fire appeared to have been intentionally set. No power or gas was on in the home, according to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, and firefighters found an accelerant on a couch on the porch, Randle said.
No one was home at the time of the fire, which was put out in approximately 30 minutes, Randle said.
A suspect had been identified as of Monday morning, George said. According to the captain, a neighbor’s daughter told authorities she had seen a woman leaving the residence around the same time the fire started.
Any suspect could face felony charges of second-degree arson, according to a police report.
