Prep basketball roundup: Higgins' big night leads Oxford win

Lexie Higgins turned in 18 points and eight assists as Oxford beat Shelby County 55-27 at home Saturday night.

Casmine Copeland added 14 points, while Deanna Clark pitched in 11. Sabrina Abbott pulled down nine rebounds, and Deja Owens had eight.

Oxford (14-10) will play at Talladega on Monday.

Spring Garden 60, Faith Christian 25: Darian Gaines had 24 points to pace Spring Garden, which led 41-16 at halftime and used the big lead as a chance to unload the bench. Ten different players scored for Spring Garden.

For Faith Christian, Madison Stephens scored 19 points.

Spring Garden (21-4) will play at Sand Rock on Monday at 6 p.m.

Donoho 29, Sacred Heart 17: At Sacred Heart, senior Amanda Sherer's four 3-point baskets sparked Donoho to the Class 1A, Area 12 win. Sherer finished with 14 points. AnnaMarie Woodfin added nine points for the Falcons.

Zainab Sanusi led Sacred Heart with 13 points.

Donoho and Sacred Heart meet again Monday at Ragland in the opening round of the 1A, Area 12 tournament.

Boys

Spring Garden 55, Faith Christian 45:
Will Westbrook’s 18 points led Spring Garden, and Jacob Black pitched in 16. Riley Austin had eight.

Faith Christian’s London Huie scored 11 points.

Spring Garden (11-12) will play at Sand Rock on Monday at about 7:30 p.m.
