Big things often come in small packages. Pleasant Valley’s junior guard Tiffany Williams is one of those big things in a small package.

Standing at only 5-foot-4, Williams is in a three-way-tie for the shortest girl on the team. Her small stature has not hindered her performance on the court. She averages 14 points per game for the Lady Raiders.

She plays big on the court and she dreams big off of it. She hopes to explore places like New York and California one day. For now, she will stick to her dream of earning an athletic scholarship.

Although she is on the basketball court now, the softball diamond is where her heart lies. As an Alabama fan, she hopes to earn a scholarship to play outfield for the Crimson Tide one day. As a Pleasant Valley native, she would also cherish the opportunity to play for Jacksonville State.

But, it does not matter where she plays. She just wants the chance to play in college. She is deciding between becoming an educator or a career in the medical field

Recently, Williams took a few minutes before practice with her teammates to sit down with Anniston Star sports correspondent Jordan Smith and knock out 10 questions.

Question: What is it like being the shortest girl on the team?

Answer: It’s not really that much different because we are a short team. Height doesn’t really hurt.

Q: What is your favorite sports memory?

A: When we won area last year in softball. That was probably my favorite so far. Hopefully, we’ll go to state this year.

Q: What is your favorite subject?

A: Probably math. I’m really good at it and I get it easily.

Q: Who is your hero?

A: My mom. She’s always there for me. She helps me with everything. She helps the coaches and helps out with the team. She’s always there.

Q: What is your favorite song?

A: The Scientist by Coldplay. My favorite songs change but right now that’s my favorite song. I like a lot of songs.

Q: If you could be an animal which one would you choose?

A: I’d probably be a cheetah because they’re fast and they’re pretty.

Q: Would you rather be feared or respected?

A: Respected. I don’t want to be the bad guy. I want to be respected.

Q: What did you get for Christmas?

A: I got a bunch of clothes and I Beats headphones. I got a batting cage thing where I can hit.

Q: What did you give for Christmas?

A: Well, I got all of my friends little gifts. Me, my brother and my dad got my mom a pedicure package and we got my dad a Carhartt shirt.

Q: What is the best thing about Pleasant Valley?

A: We might not be the best at everything in sports, but our girls’ sports are starting to be good. I like the teachers and our coaches.
