Tanrrance Maurice Landrum, 24, was indicted on a first-degree assault charge by a Calhoun County grand jury on Aug. 26, according to court records.
District Attorney Brian McVeigh said testimony will begin today after both the prosecution and defense have presented their evidence.
The shooting occurred on March 10 at an apartment complex on Elm Street. The victim, who was shot in the back and arm, told police that someone ran up to him and started shooting, Anniston police Capt. Allen George told The Star in June.
The mother of the victim told police that an argument led to the shooting, according to Star reports. Police interviewed witnesses at the scene and were able to identify Landrum as a suspect.
Anniston police Capt. Allen George confirmed Monday that the victim and Landrum knew one another.
Officers arrested Landrum on June 13. He has been in the Calhoun County Jail since June 14, according to a jail worker.
