Often, patients leave a chiropractor’s office feeling more relaxed. The reason for this attitude adjustment is the spinal adjustment. A spinal adjustment can remove irritation to the skeletal and muscular systems, helping painful symptoms to ease. A spinal adjustment also removes irritation to the nervous system, resetting a person’s whole day.

It’s no accident that people use the word “irritated” when they feel ill at ease. Mental irritation is related to your physical state. As well as describing a state of mind, “irritation” is used to describe a type of nerve stimulation. The two types of irritation are often more related than we realize. Taking a long walk or a good nap can help calm an irritated mood, and spinal adjustments can have a similar effect.

Think of a subluxation (the misalignment of a vertebra which puts pressure on the nerves) as static in your system. Removing the static via adjustment resets the signal, smoothing out communication in your nervous system, resulting in less irritation both mentally and physically. A well-adjusted body falls into a better rhythm, leading to better metabolism, better sleep, better healing. With better healing comes less pain, which keeps that relaxation trend going. Also, chiropractic adjustments can remove interference from the nerves that communicate with the large intestine, relieving constipation. Nine times out of 10, a mood improvement accompanies a bowel movement. Just ask a fussy baby.

Clearer thinking can result from all the aforementioned reasons. Also, helping the spine restore proper function can help cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) flow better around the spinal cord and brain, which directly improves the health of your brain. A healthy brain is a happy brain.

Chiropractic care gets results because it gets to the root of the problem. Take a few minutes out of your day to try chiropractic care. Side effects include (but are not limited to) relief from constipation, improvement of back pain, better sleep, and a better outlook on life. Warning: chiropractic adjustments may cause an increase in patience, resulting in better interpersonal relationships.
