Persistent rain led Anniston officials Monday to postpone the city’s Christmas parade until Thursday.

The annual Anniston Christmas Parade on Noble Street has been moved to Thursday at 6:30 p.m. It had been set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

More than an inch of rain had fallen in Anniston by noon Monday, according to observations by the National Weather Service.

Steven Folks, director of the Anniston Parks and Recreation Department, said the rain was expected to last all night. He cited safety as a reason for moving the parade.
