The one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings in Newtown, Conn., has returned the issue of responsible gun ownership to the forefront.

In that vein, here's a point to consider: “Guns kept in the home are 43 times more likely to be used to kill someone known to the family than to be used to kill in self-defense," according to a new ThinkProgress.org report and data from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
