The tournament coaches voted Lincoln’s Jamario Howard, the 145-pound winner, as most valuable wrestler and the 132-pound final, won by Cleburne County’s Corey Davis over Nathan Persall of Susan Moore, as the best match of the tournament.
Weaver’s champions were Chase Rodgers (195), Jermaine Carmichael (170), Wil Mizik (138) and Nick Souder (106). Finishing second for the Bearcats were Jacob Howard (145), Kyle Clapper (126), Christian Pettus 120) and Drake Monroe (113).
In addition to Davis, who was 4-0 on the day, Cleburne County had two other champions. Alex Sandmann won at 220 and Preston Jarrell at 113.
Lincoln and Ranburne each won two weights. Dalton Wiggins (152) and Dylan Tullis (182) won for Ranburne. Devonte Peeler (160) was a champion for the Golden Bears in addition to Jamario Howard.
The remaining individual winners were Exavyer Jackson of Piedmont at 285, Ryan King of ASB at 126 and Susan Moore’s P.J. Robertson at 120.
Donoho 38, Victory Christian 23: The Falcons got four 3-point baskets from Amanda Sherer in the first half and led 20-4 at halftime. Sherer finished with five treys and 22 points. Meghanna Giri and Constance Hodges each scored five points for Donoho (1-2). The Falcons play at Ragland Tuesday.
Cleburne County 45, Alexandria 41: At Heflin Friday, junior guard Alisa Norton scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the second half as Cleburne County rallied from a 21-14 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Alexandria. Norton also had seven rebounds and four assists. Kiara Akles had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Shawntavia Boyd added seven points and Kaity Boyd recorded 10 rebounds and five points for the Tigers.
Cleburne County (2-1) plays at Weaver Monday.
Donoho 58, Victory Christian 13: Donoho easily defeated their guests from Pell City Saturday afternoon. Justin Foster led the Falcons with 13 points. Axis Heathcock had 11 points and Parker Morgan eight points as Donoho improved to 3-0. Donoho plays at area foe Ragland Tuesday.
Alexandria 80, Cleburne County 45: All 12 players scored for Alexandria as the Valley Cubs improved to 4-0 with their win at Heflin Friday. Alton Davis paced the Cubs with 13 points. Dakota Kelley finished with 11 points and C.J. Swink recorded 10 points in the win. Cole Burgess, Gabe Marchal and Nick Porter each netted eight points for Alexandria.
Senior Max Prichard led Cleburne County with 12 points.
Alexandria opens in Class 4A, Area 11 play at Cherokee County Tuesday.
