An Oxford man arrested on domestic violence charges allegedly slammed his ex-wife against a table and choked her Monday, Calhoun County’s sheriff said Wednesday.

Ronald Douglas Lindsey, 45, of Oxford, was charged with domestic violence by strangulation, according to Sheriff Larry Amerson.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when Lindsey and the victim got into an argument in their shared home on the 1000 block of Airport Road, Amerson said.

The 38-year-old victim broke away from Lindsey when the table she was slammed onto broke, the sheriff said. According to the Amerson, Lindsey followed the victim and grabbed her by the throat.

The victim told deputies she was able to pull herself away from Lindsey and made it outside to her car. The victim told deputies that Lindsey followed her again and beat the windows and side of the car with his hands and feet in an effort to get to her, the sheriff said.

The sheriff said a deputy met with the victim at a local grocery store, where she told him about the incident and told deputies where to find Lindsey. Deputies said the victim had finger marks on her neck, Amerson said.

According to the sheriff, deputies found Lindsey at his home on the 100 block of Airport Road, where he was arrested Monday afternoon. He was released on a $10,000 bond from the Calhoun County Jail on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 6.
