Saturday’s 32-26 overtime win over Georgia State was their second in the Georgia Dome and fifth in a row in a stadium that houses an NFL team.
Three of their wins, of course, have come over Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee State in LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans.
The Gamecocks also beat Florida A&M in the Orange Bowl in 1970.
The only loss was in former coach Jack Crowe’s first game with the Gamecocks, 40-0 to South Florida in Raymond James Field, which houses the Tampa Bay Bucs.
The Gamecocks dressed in the Falcons’ locker room each of their two trips to the Georgia Dome.
“It was one of the nicest locker rooms I’ve ever been in,” quarterback Max Shortell said.
And he’s played in the Big 10 where opponents dress in pink locker rooms at Iowa.
JSU wasn’t the only OVC team playing in a major-league ballpark Saturday. Southeast Missouri played Southern Illinois in St. Louis’ Busch Stadium.
