There was a pregame prayer at Jacksonville State’s home football game last week. Why? Was there a prayer to impress the high school players and their parents?

I think the people in my section were more impressed with what I consider the JSU porn. I went to all the home games last year sitting in the same section, and the antics in the stands are getting worse. My oldest son, who is well above the age of consent, was surprised at the outfits and behaviors, and that was last year. A co-worker, who was at the game, asked if I saw the groping, fondling and outrageous outfits. How could you miss? I suppose my choices are: (1.) move to another section (I sit where I do because I don’t have to walk too far going in or leaving) or (2.) stay at home and listen on the radio.

The prayer was given by a member of the Baptist Campus Ministries. Is JSU going to have a Roman Catholic priest give the next prayer? What about one of the other Protestant denominations (Lutheran, Methodist)? Why not a non-Christian prayer? Why not a rabbi for Rosh Hashanah? Or Muslim? Or pagan? I suppose since I like my football without prayer, I could stay at home and listen to FM-92J. But then I wouldn’t get my nachos.

Do we really need balloons turned loose to show support for a cause? Please remember those balloons that are turned loose and look so pretty flying off end up being trash and killing wildlife.

But the football game was great, the Army ROTC was sharp and the Southerners were exceptional.
