A false alarm at the AOD Federal credit Union bank at the corner of Pelham Road and Whites Gap Road in Jacksonville sent police scrambling to the scene today, but all is fine, said Jacksonville Police Chief Tommy Thompson.

An employee at the bank accidentally – and unknowingly — set off an alarm around 11:20 this morning, Thompson said.

“They didn’t even know anything was going on,” Thompson said, referring to bank employees. “We had to call them.”

The alarm automatically alerts the police department, Thompson said, and a call is made to the bank to verify the cause of the alarm. Police arrived at the bank shortly after receiving notice of the alarm and cleared the bank, Thompson said.
