Anniston police today were investigating an employee theft in which $6,000 was reported stolen from the Winn-Dixie on Golden Springs Road.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, a Winn-Dixie employee made several fraudulent refund transactions between April 8 and Sept. 5.

The captain said a print out of the suspect’s transactions and video surveillance footage from the store showed the suspect had been refunding transaction money and taking it. The report did not mention how many refunds the suspect made, but the suspect stole $6,000 over five months.

The captain said Winn Dixie is pressing charges against the suspect, who could face felony charges of first-degree theft, according to a police report.
