Davie Palmer, a member of the A-Town Runners AAU track team, in June competed and qualified for the 2013 Junior Olympics in three events in Knoxville, Tenn. She placed eighth in the 80m hurdles Aug. 1 and won a Junior Olympic medal.

A total of 10,040 athletes from 46 out of 50 states and Puerto Rico were represented at the Junior Olympics. Palmer is a sixth grade student at Anniston Middle School and finished the fifth grade at Randolph Park on the all A’s honor roll. She is the daughter of Carmelita Davis and granddaughter of Nathaniel and Johnnie Davis, all of Anniston.
