Birmingham Restaurant Week preview tonight
The Fourth Annual Birmingham Restaurant Week kicks off tonight at 5:30 p.m. with the BRW 2013 Preview Party at The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
Chefs from participating restaurants including Silvertron Café, VINO, La Paz, Dreamland BBQ and others will serve samples of popular menu items until 8:30 p.m.
The cost of a single ticket is $30, a couple’s ticket is $45. Price of admission includes food, entertainment, wine from Rush Wines, beer from Good People Brewing Company and entrance to the museum. All proceeds benefit the Civil Rights Institute’s educational and outreach initiatives.
Birmingham Restaurant Week 2013 takes place Friday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 25.

The Victoria menu goes price-friendly
There are a few new price-friendly changes to the menu at the Victoria.
The restaurant at the historic downtown Anniston inn now features a $12 blue-plate dinner special nightly. On Tuesday, the featured dish is the Chicken Scaloppini. Wednesday is Fresh Gulf Fish night. On Thursday, try the Grilled Pork Chop. Friday’s special is Grilled Angus Steak and Saturday will be Chef’s Choice.
On Thursday and Friday, the kitchen is open for lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Choose your own entrée and veggie for under $10.
