We know the general consensus of motorcycle riders is dope-smoking alcoholics with tattoos that abound. However, we do not fall into that category and resent being characterized as such. If you look at the general population of Anniston, as any other town, you will find some people of that element along with the rest of us law-abiding citizens.
Several years back, the Harley State Rally was held at Oxford Lake and the Civic Center there. People came from all over and spent money at the restaurants and hotels in Anniston and Oxford before attending the Rumble On Noble held that weekend. Oxford and Anniston police will both attest to having very little trouble with this “unwanted element” as one of the downtown merchants so referred to them. As for Jennie Preston, my wife and I have visited her store and purchased merchandise there. If she doesn’t want this “unwanted element” in her store, my suggestion would be to close the store for that day and leave it at that. She probably wouldn’t miss much business anyway.
Come on Anniston, let’s move forward into the 21st century and not discriminate against this group, because it is wrong.
