All three were playing the deciding game of a best-of-three quarterfinal series. Piedmont lost to Mars Hill Bible 3-1 at home in Class 3A. Alexandria lost 4-3 at Ardmore in 4A, and Ranburne lost at Westbrook Christian 5-2 in 2A.
Piemont led 1-0 before giving up two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Alexandria lost after leading 3-2 going into the seventh inning. Vanderbilt commitment Cody Reed struck out seven for Ardmore and allowed only four hits.
Ranburne completed a suspended game against Westbrook Christian, losing 11-0 after trailing 5-0 when rain stopped the game this weekend. Then in Game 3 of the series, Westbrook broke out to a 5-0 lead, with Ranburne managing only a couple of late runs.
Ranburne finished the season 24-8.
In soccer, Jacksonville's girls lost to Guntersville 2-1 in the 4A quarterfinals after leading 1-0 earlier in the match. This is third straight year Jacksonville has fallen to Guntersville in the state quarterfinals.
