UAB outlasted Harbin’s effort and won 7-4 when Anna Kimbrell slugged a three-run homer in the bottom of the 13th inning.
Senior Kelci Johnston went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, making her the lone Gamecock with multiple hits. The Northport native snapped an 0-for-13 skid against the Blazers at the plate with a first inning homer.
Kimbrell carried the Blazer offense, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs, while Caitlin Attfield and Whitney Fletcher each recorded three hits.
The score was tied 1-1 going into the 11th, but JSU managed a run in the top half when Elle Denes doubled home Casey Craig. However, UAB answered with a run of its own. JSU got another run in the 12th when Johnston singled home Savannah Sloan, but UAB answered again.
The Gamecocks scored in the top of the 13th when Cara Longworth came across the plate on an error, but the Blazers scored four times to win it.
Savanna Hennings (6-2) suffered the loss in relief.
The Gamecocks (26-25) will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Tennessee Tech. The set will get underway in Cookeville, Tenn., with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday before concluding with a 1 p.m. single game Sunday.
