Police charged two men suspected of robbing an Oxford gas station early this morning and were searching for a third suspect Wednesday afternoon.

Oxford police Lt. L.G. Owens said an employee of the Samco gas station on U.S. 78 called police around 3:30 a.m. and reported a robbery.

When police arrived at the scene, three suspects were still in the parking lot, Owens said. Two of the suspects, a man and a woman, were in a car and the other was still outside. Owens said the car sped away, but Oxford police briefly chased the suspect who was left behind and apprehended him.

Owens said no money was taken from the gas station and the robbers were armed with a crowbar. No injuries were reported during the incident, the lieutenant said.

Owens said the man was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and attempting to elude police, a misdemeanor.

The suspect was in the Oxford City Jail as of Wednesday afternoon, but a name and photo had not been released.

Another man allegedly involved in the robbery was arrested today by the Sylacauga Police Department, Owens said.

The incident is still under investigation, Owens said Wednesday.
