One woman was injured in a two-car wreck Friday afternoon on Alabama 9, according to Heflin police.

Capt. A.J. Benefield, Heflin’s interim police chief, said the crash occurred at 1:27 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Almon Street and Tumblin Mill Road. He said a 48-year-old woman from Randolph County was taken to Regional Medical Center.

Benefield said the woman, driving her 2005 Honda Element, was pulling out of Tumblin Mill Road onto Almon Street when the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Classic struck the side of the car. The Honda rolled on its side during the crash, Benefield said.

The 27-year-old Heflin woman driving the Chevy was not injured, Benefield said.

Benefield said Monday he did not know the condition of the injured woman.
