The Autism Society of Alabama will kick off Autism Awareness month throughout April with a “Walk for Autism” event at the following locations: April 13 at Saks High School; April 20 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre and April 27 at Lineville City Park. Registration is open for the Center for Domestic Preparedness Employee Association third annual 5K Walk/Run to be held April 6 at McClellan. The race is open to the public and starts at 8 a.m. Race day check-in will be 6:30-7:30 a.m. The 5K race will start at Noble Training Facility, 490 Care Drive.

The CDP EA will also host a Mini Trot for children age 10 and younger following the 5K awards ceremony. Children are not required to pre-register and there are no registration fees for the Mini Trot. Contact John McKenzie at 256-847-2111 or email john.mckenzie@fema.dhs.gov for more information.
