Garfrerick’s Café in Oxford is hosting an Easter lunch buffet Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu will feature heirloom recipes from the historic Purefoy Hotel, a landmark in Talladega from 1920 to 1961.

According to owner David Garfrerick, the talent behind the Purefoy Hotel Kitchen was Eva Brunson Purefoy, who retired from the Talladega hotel in the 50’s before opening Anniston’s Purefoy Nobel Hotel with her sister, where some of the same recipes were featured.

Entrees on the buffet Sunday will include Southern chicken and dressing, braised leg of lamb, country ham with pineapple sauce, Garfrerick’s shrimp and grits, slow cooked boneless beef short ribs and eggs Benedict. Accompanying those entrees will be Talladega Spoon Bread, Purefoy Brunswick Stew, baked lima beans and tomatoes, Southern squash casserole, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, a salad bar and more. A variety of fresh baked breads and desserts will also be served.
