Laura Lacey Brown, 30; Bryan Scott Jones, 25; and Bridgette Deanna Griffith, 31, were all charged with first-degree kidnapping, a felony, Anniston police Lt. Fred Forsythe said.
A 33-year-old woman told police she was kidnapped by a man and two women, none of whom she knew, at 8 p.m. on Feb. 16 while walking to meet someone near the 500 block of West Blue Mountain Road. Forsythe said the victim was forced into a vehicle and driven to an intersection near Old Gadsden Highway and Alexandria Road.
The victim reported she was kicked and punched repeatedly by the suspects. When the car stopped, she was taken outside, where she was assaulted again and sexually tortured, Forsythe said.
Forsythe said that afterwards the woman was brought back to Blue Mountain Road around 10:30 p.m. and “dumped on the side of the road.”
Forsythe said after multiple interviews and evidence gathered from the vehicle, police were able to charge Griffith, Brown and Jones.
The lieutenant said at this point in the investigation there was not enough evidence for prosecution of the assault and sexual torture.
Police are still unsure of the kidnappers’ motive, Forsythe said.
Griffith, Brown and Jones all paid their $25,000 bonds and were released from the Anniston City Jail Thursday. Court appearances are scheduled for April 15.
