Shevis Jammal Carr, 26, of Anniston, allegedly hit a 23-year-old man over the head with a chair Tuesday, according to Sgt. Chris Sparks. Carr was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, according to a police report.
The victim told police he was in his apartment on the 1400 block of Cooper Avenue Tuesday between 2:50 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. when he got into an argument with Carr, Sparks said.
Carr picked up a wooden chair and struck the victim with it, Sparks said. After the victim fell to the floor, Carr repeatedly kicked and hit the victim with the chair again.
Sparks said the victim was treated at Regional Medical Center and has recovered from his injuries.
Carr paid his $10,000 bond and was released from the Anniston City Jail Thursday, Sparks said.
A court date for Carr is set for April 18.
