Re “Mexican towns, once frozen with fear, now frozen in time” (News article, March 3):

Thank you for this story on Mexico. The residents of these towns have been forced from their homes, farms and villages by heavily armed outlaws of the drug cartels. The government of Mexico cannot or will not protect its citizens, but it can and does refuse them the right to legally own firearms to protect their lives and property.

The Democratic Party enjoys making a joke of the phrase: When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. I do not believe these poor farmers and villagers in Mexico find anything amusing about that very true statement.

The article vaguely alluded to vigilante efforts being considered to bring relief to these people. One can easily predict the outcome of machete-armed farmers battling AK-47 armed drug cartel criminals.

Is this the kind of society our government is trying to force upon the people of the United States? God forbid this ever happening.
