Daughters of the American Revolution members serve as guardians of the pursuit of history, education, and patriotism in our community. Forty-four area DAR members gathered February 23 for the society's annual George Washington Birthday Luncheon to remember President Washington. The speaker was ASDAR President Connie Grund from Birmingham. She delivered an inspirational talk on Washington's leadership as Father of Our Country, his life with Martha and Washington as a farmer and landowner. Also included in her speech was a mention of how the Presidents' wives and other women were actively involved in the defense of the country during the American Revolutionary War. There are 72 DAR chapters in Alabama.
