A week in the life ...
— I stopped by a roadside cross on Randolph County 33 ... it is there in remembrance of Henry James Nelson, June 1993, Dec. 2008 ... He was 15 or maybe 16 when he died on a curvy country road ... a ceramic angel and two faded poinsettias were hugging the foot of the cross.
— I picked up two “Chicken Littles” at Kentucky Fried Chicken ... good buy at $1.49 ... tasty, too ... had one for lunch, the other for supper.
— Took a shower and washed my hair ... I hate the chore, but I’ve been told “cleanliness is next to godliness” ... I need all the help I can get (according to my pastor, the Rev. Truman Norred) and I do it every single day.— Turned on the coffee pot, turned on the computer, checked the obituaries ... this past week, all were strangers ... which means I didn’t lose any friends ... glad about that, but sad for those who left.
— Carried a cup of coffee back to the bedroom for the blonde ... I’m an early riser, she’s not.
— Picked up drug printout at Wal-Mart ... it’s tax time, people.
— Worked on taxes ... truth is, the blonde does most of that.
— Paid three bills ... Alabama Power, Alagasco, and State Farm ... walked to the street and mailed, made sure I put the (red) flag up ... sometimes I forget to do that.
— Drove to Wadley, had breakfast with “my buddies” at the Abanda Café and Cake Shop ... yep ... gravy biscuits with eggs tucked under the gravy.
— Filled my white, four-door, ‘03 Ford Taurus with petrol ... looked at the pump and thought about filing for bankruptcy ... may still do it.
— Called my brother in Omega, Ga., where he has been pastoring First Baptist ... he’s retiring and moving “home” in a few days ... every time I look at him I remember the day he was born ... 4 o’clock in the morning on a bitterly cold March day ... I had to get up and go milk the cow while my mother delivered ...I’d never milked a cow before, Mom never milked a cow again ... I did ... and still hold something of a grudge against “little brother.”
— Watched two episodes of Foyle’s War on Netflix ... Foyle is a British detective and the series takes place during World War II ... really good TV.
— Attended a funeral at Chapel Hill.
— Had a baloney and cheese sandwich (with mayonnaise) for lunch twice during the week.
Now tell me I that I don’t lead an exciting life ... sort of wears me down and calls for considerable time in my recliner out in “my barn.”
But right now, I’ve got to get to church ...
