Jesus is always referred to, preached about or talked about as “The Son of God.” According to John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” It was God’s plan for us to have a savior to redeem us from our sins and he did not need a wife to accomplish this.
Marriage is not a sin and should not be looked upon as sinister. Jesus submitted his will to God because of the love that he has for mankind and our redemption. He was both human and divine. For Jesus to love is in line with who he is.
We will never know what the Gospel would read like had Jesus been married or how God’s plan for salvation would have been accomplished. I believe if it had mattered to God that Jesus be married, he would have provided him a wife.
Marriage is a unique undertaking and it certainly would have given mankind a different perspective of how marriage should be.
Being married does not mean that Jesus would be less powerful. He would still be God in the flesh, showing another aspect of his multifaceted character. So, it does not matter if Jesus was married or not. God’s will was done.

The church is Christ’s one true bride
It absolutely matters if Jesus was married. First, the Word of God does not acknowledge a marriage relationship between Jesus and a woman. The Bible clearly teaches that the Lord was given completely to a ministry of Gospel preaching and practical ministry. He is shown to have a relationship with his mother, father, brothers, sisters and friends. It would be odd for there to be no mention of a marital relationship.
Second, Christ has one bride and that is the church. Jesus Christ is said to be the husband of the church in Ephesians 5:22-33, Colossians 1:18, and Revelation 19:1-10. It would be contradictory for the Bible to teach that Jesus Christ has a bride, the church, and a wife in the physical sense.
Third, no historical evidence exists to prove that Christ had a wife. The heretical Gnostic Gospel texts have been shown to be fraudulent. The latest so-called evidence presented this past year by Dr. Karen King has been received with skepticism. It appears that her research will not stand up under the scrutiny of other Egyptian Coptic Scholars.
The fact is there is no evidence because Jesus had no wife. Jesus remained unmarried his entire life because he was faithful to his one bride, the church.
