Two customers exiting the store immediately came to our aid. One helped me to support my father to keep him from falling and the other quickly found a wheelchair for him. A Wal-Mart employee had joined us at this point to offer assistance. Then we were joined by two employees from management. Everyone was concerned with my father’s well-being, even offering something for him to eat.
I wanted to say “a big thank you” to all those who came to our aid and to those who offered support. The immediate action of these good Samaritans helped to restore my faith in the kindness of strangers. The response from the Wal-Mart employees was phenomenal. As our news fills with reports of crime and violence, it is refreshing to know there are still many good people willing to offer help when it is needed.
I am happy to report that my father is fine. We purchased our groceries and returned home without further incident. I shudder to think of what might have happened if he had fallen.
