Playing at Jacksonville State, Woodland used a 22-4 run in the second quarter to blow the game open, taking a 38-18 lead into halftime after starting the night slowly from the field. The Lady Bobcats’ defense was also sound, creating 23 Lanett turnovers and scoring 27 points from them in the game.
The Lady Bobcats continued their hot shooting in the second half, never giving Lanett a chance to get back in the game. The Panthers' leading scorer was Dija Billingslea, who finished with 11 points.
The win puts Woodland to the Final Four next week in Birmingham for the second time in three years. The 2011 trip ended with a loss to Tanner in the state championship game 71-53. The Lady Bobcats will play at 9 a.m. Tuesday against the winner of Elba and Providence Christian.
