NEABA members will meet Saturday morning at 10:30 to record promotional videos at the trailhead of the Coldwater Mountain bike trail system, the expansion of which would be helped along by the grant.
Bell will chose a winner from among the finalists after a national marketing campaign and public vote that runs March 5-12.
As part of the promotional materials for this phase of the competition, NEABA will film a ‘Harlem Shake’-style video at the Coldwater Trailhead. Biking enthusiasts are asked to bring Bell helmets and other gear for the shoot and their reflections on the Coldwater system and its expansion.
NEABA President Mike Poe said Bell wants the video materials to be informative and creative.
“This is the creative part,” he said of the Harlem Shake filming. “As creative as you can be, the better for this very short video.”
Poe said NEABA members hoped the video will appeal to the masses for the vote. Internet parodies of the video for the hip hop song “Harlem Shake” by the DJ Baauer have gone viral in recent weeks.
Interviews with stakeholders will provide the meat of the promotional content, namely, the benefits of expanding the Coldwater trail system into Anniston.
“This new flow trail will sort of empty out at the new five-acre access park that is being built downtown.” he said. “So that’s kind of the significance of it.”
The winners will be announced at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, Calif. on April 19, the same weekend as the Noble Street Festival and Sunny King Criterium in Anniston.
