Police on Wednesday charged a woman who works at Long John Silver’s in Anniston with stealing money from the restaurant.

Vonda Corsan McGhee, 45, of Omaha, Neb., faces felony theft charges in connection with the incident.

Anniston Sgt. Josh Doggrell said the theft was reported on Dec. 21 by two managers at the restaurant located at 631 Quintard Ave. Managers told police that a large amount of money was missing from a deposit. Doggrell said the managers told police they suspected McGhee of stealing the money.

“There were two separate occasions of money missing,” Doggrell said.

Police believe McGhee stole more than $2,000 from the restaurant, but were only able to recover and prove she stole $705, Doggrell said.

Doggrell said restaurant surveillance was viewed by police to confirm McGhee stole the money.

McGhee paid her $7,500 bond and was released from the Anniston City Jail. She has a court date scheduled for Feb. 25.
